Next to decluttering, another home staging task that is very important to perform is to deep clean the interior of your home. I can’t stress this enough to home staging clients.
When I walk-through a client’s home, I’m viewing the home from a potential buyer’s eyes. This is one of the criteria I’m looking for when assessing a client’s home. Remember, your goal is to present your home to potential buyers as the home they want to live in.
Your home can be staged “picture perfect,” but if your home is not clean, this gives potential buyers the perception you are not keeping up on your home maintenance, in the home.
Your routine cleaning, is fine for day-to-day living, but when selling your home, you should literally, clean from top to bottom of each room; cleaning baseboards, windows, dusting every item, cleaning your carpets, and more.
DEEP CLEANING PLAN
Below is a plan of action to help you get started, whether you hire a professional cleaning service or perform the cleaning yourself.
1. Declutter Your Home. When your home is cluttered it’s more difficult to clean your home and reap the benefits from deep cleaning. You will spend a lot of time and energy moving and cleaning items that you may not use for staging your home. So, declutter before cleaning.
2. Cleaning Preparation
3. Plan for Completion
Once your home has been deep cleaned, create a plan for maintaining the cleanliness of your home. After deep cleaning your home should be easy to keep clean and ready for future home showings.
